sulla croce
Alberto Salvadori, Danna Olgiati
For the occasion of the 2016 Jubilee announced by Pope Francis, the Collection Giancarlo and Danna Olgiati presents a display dedicated to the symbol of the Cross. Through a selection of works ranging from the ancient to the contemporary, the exhibition aims to investigate the complexity and mystery of the Cross, a universal symbol in art. The cross, in evidence from the most remote times, can be placed as the third most fundamental geometrical figure, alongside the circle and the square. Subsequently, for Christianity acquired further representations and meanings: the Crucifix, Christ, the Word, the Second Person of the Trinity. Through a deliberately secular approach which maintains the upmost respect for the sacred dimension, the exhibition features works by artists who have tackled the theme of the cross, albeit through a diverse range of philosophic and religious perspectives. On display are works from Roberto Ciaccio, Lucio Fontana, Jannis Kounellis and many others.
